A Hand Up Foundation Donates $15,000 to Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids

July 23, 2009 - Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids is the appreciative recipient of a $15,000 donation from A Hand Up Foundation.

This donation will ensure reading and education remain a priority in the lives of the at-risk children in Southern Nevada.

A Hand Up's recent annual fundraiser, which featured special guest Senator John Ensign, raised money to benefit a variety of charities during a two-day event that featured golf and NASCAR events. Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids was one of the organizations selected to benefit from the foundation's fundraising efforts.

A Hand Up has been a longtime supporter of children's literacy, donating proceeds from its annual fundraiser to Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids in 2005 and 2007 as well.

"The Board of A Hand Up chose Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids to support this year in recognition of their tireless commitment to children in Southern Nevada," said Lindsey Slanker, Executive Director of A Hand Up. "Kids to Kids' efforts to promote literacy in the classroom, as well as the home, are critical to giving children a foundation upon which to grow. The organization exemplifies our mission to help those children in our community who are in need of a hand up."
