NV
Energy Foundation Awards $25,000 to Support Children's Literacy
Programs
March
21, 2010 - A community partner since Spread
the Word Nevada's inception in 2001, the NV Energy
Foundation Committee recently awarded us a $25,000 grant!
This
grant will further the our mission of providing books and
literacy services, while promoting higher education to disadvantaged
youth in Southern Nevada.

"NV
Energy supports programs that are committed to increasing
the capacity to support children's learning and development,"
stated Doretha Graham Easler, Community Relations Manager,
of NV Energy. "Spread the Word
Nevada: Kids to Kids is a shining example of advancing
early childhood literacy and developing strong family-school
partnerships."
Lisa
Habighorst, Executive Director of Spread
the Word Nevada added, "Spread
the Word Nevada is grateful for the NV Energy Foundation's
grant and belief in our literacy programs. Reading proficiency
correlates to higher academic success, which is one of the
main reasons our organization is dedicated to reaching out
to all children and youth, especially those who are at-risk
of academic challenges. Since 2001, we have adopted 19 elementary
schools and have served more than 160,000 at-risk youth in
the Las Vegas Valley and Henderson. We are honored to have
been chosen as a recipient for this generous grant."
