4 Named Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids Day by Las Vegas
City Council
March
4 , 2009 - The Las Vegas City Council has named March 4, 2009,
as Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to
Kids Day. This honor was bestowed upon the organization
in recognition of its contributions to youth literacy throughout
the Las Vegas Valley.

Councilwoman
Lois Tarkanian lead the presentation, giving special Proclamations
to Spread the Word Nevada
Founder Laurie Hartig, as a representative of the nonprofit,
and to the organization overall.

The
officials who also participated in the presentation, before
a packed house, were Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, Councilman Steve
Wolfson, Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese, Councilman David W. Steinman,
Councilman Steven D. Ross and Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow.

Spread
the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids is deeply appreciative
of the acknowledgment from the Las Vegas City Council, and
the outpouring of heartfelt expressions of appreciation for
the work being done by tireless volunteers, staff, Board of
Directors and partners.
As
Founder and Program Director Laurie Hartig expressed, "Spread
the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids is truly a community
effort, so any acknowledgment we may receive belongs to everyone
whose dedication and generosity have helped Spread
the Word Nevada distribute more than a million
books to at-risk children."
