Spread
the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids Hosts Its Sixth Annual Storybook
Gala
September
27, 2008 - Spread the Word Nevada:
Kids to Kids hosted its Sixth Annual Storybook
Gala on September 27, 2008, at the Venetian Resort Hotel and
Casino. The gala was a chance for Las Vegas' movers and shakers
to gather to support the efforts of Kids
to Kids. The event is one of the organization's
key fundraising events of the year.

The
event, entitled "One Million Books, One Million Dreams,
One Million Possibilities," celebrated the distribution
of Kids to Kids' one millionth
book to at-risk schools in Las Vegas.

Because
the gala is underwritten by The Venetian Foundation, 100%
of the evening's proceeds benefits Kids to Kids.

Emcees for the evening were Steven Budin (KVBC TV Channel
3 Financial Analyst) and news anchor Colleen May, pictured

Mezzo-soprano
Juline Barole-Gilmore (below) took the stage to entertain
those in attendance.

Among
the other event highlights were a cocktail reception featuring
a "Dreams Come True Library" drawing, with prizes
tucked among pages of "library books."
A
"Corks for Kids" wine tasting at the event marked
the kick-off of a year-long fundraising campaign by Lee's
Discount Liquors.

The
evening built to a crescendo with an energetic live auction.
Gracious donors cast aside "rumors" of an uncertain
economy and poured out their generosity to help provide books
to innumerable Las Vegas Valley children in need. Below, auctioneer
Christian Kolberg keeps the action rolling.

Founder Laurie Hartig speaks with guests, as well as students
volunteering to build buzz about the live auction with their
themed costumes.
Our
gala was truly magical! Help us continue the magic by supporting
our mission to advance early childhood literacy through our
various programs in Southern Nevada's at-risk communities.
