Kids
to Kids Celebrates Fifth Birthday With Two-Day Event in Collaboration
With Providence Master Planned Community
May
12, 2006 - Kids to Kids
will celebrate its fifth birthday at the public grand opening
of the information center at Providence, a 1,200-acre master
planned community.
The
celebration will take place on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday,
June 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Providence, located
at I-215 and Hualapai, in Las Vegas. Click
here for a map.
Kids
to Kids is celebrating not only five years of giving
the gift of reading in the form of books for the valley's
area children, but also five years of helping literacy causes
throughout Nevada.
Focus
Property Group, master planner of Providence, seeks to create
community outreach programs within each of their communities
that address a social cause within those communities. Providence
will focus its community outreach efforts in the area of literacy
and has formed an alliance with Kids to Kids.
Events
will include appearances by storytellers and authors, entertainment,
family activities, food, music and more. The event is free.
A
"radiothon" fundraiser, in partnership with Integrity
Broadcasting and KVBC, will help benefit Kids
to Kids.
Prior
to the radiothon at Providence, all 9,000 students in Kids
to Kids' 12 partner schools will read books for
one hour. The event, "Pennies
for Pages Read-a-Thon," encourages individuals and companies
to sponsor the children's efforts by pledging money to support
Kids to Kids.
