Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids Brings Program to 15th School, Culley Elementary School

On October 30, 2007, Spread the Word Nevada: Kids to Kids brought its program to a 15th school, Paul E. Culley Elementary.

Assemblies were held to launch the program, and 980 children joined the ongoing effort of Kids to Kids to bring the magic of reading to at-risk children in Nevada.

Taking part in the event were Steve Budin (below, left), financial advisor from Channel 3, and magician Hans Klok.

Hans Klok showed students that sometimes the magic of reading involves actual magic!

Faculty, school administrators and Kids to Kids representatives (below) put on a show illustrating the importance of literacy being a community effort. Community partners in attendance included representatives of MGM Mirage, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Nevada Community Foundation.

Of course, one of the most fun aspects of "adopting" a school is the book distribution. Each child received a book bag and five books of their choice to keep.
